JAMAR HARRIS
1995 BMW M3
“I got it on
January 6, 1998, right after my car accident. I was still on crutches...
Couldn’t even test drive it! (laughing) My dad did!”
Jamar Harris has undoubtedly come a long way since the establishment of REVTECH
RACING. Into the racing scene even before the thought of joining a team (let
alone, starting one), Jamar sported his 1991 Nissan 300ZX on the streets of
Baltimore. After an inopportune car accident in 1998, however, he was forced to
surrender the totaled Z and accept a 1995 BMW M3 in its place. Had the incident
not nearly cost him his life, we might have been able to say it was actually a
good thing considering his present status. But we’ll save that argument for a
rainy day.
For the love of imports and the passion for racing, Jamar Harris, along with
Marc Enriquez and Hugo Alvarez, started a race team in 1998, to be called
REVTECH RACING. The track was their home; their home was the track. Hence the
name, REVTECH RACING.
Jamar entered countless races at tracks everywhere between Maryland and New
Jersey. Perhaps Englishtown Raceway in New Jersey caught the most attention from
the M3, as Jamar traveled north more and more frequently. From bracket racing at
the track, he has received two trophies for finishing amongst the top. His best
quarter-mile time? We’ll keep that one undisclosed. It would be pointless to
even mention it at this time anyway, being that the monster is in the shop as we
speak, awaiting a special install of some sort. Can you say “custom turbo”!??
Okay, so maybe we should have kept that as a surprise. But now that it’s out in
the open, it’ll definitely be worth taking a trip out to the track for the next
race. Just look for the blue REVTECH RACING canopy if you want to see it up
close and personal. Your other option, of course, would be to randomly find him
cruisin’ around Baltimore or his “second-home” in New Jersey. But who’s to say
you’ll definitely catch up to him in the first place? *Recommended: Find him at
the track. REVTECH RACING. You know the deal!
In addition to sporting the M3 on the track, Jamar has also taken the bad boy
onto the show floor several times within the past year. Beginning with Import
Xpression (2001) in Suffern, New York, he made further appearances at Import
Eurasia (November 11, 2001) in City, New Jersey, and Import Eurasia again (April
27 & 28, 2002) in Baltimore, Maryland. The M3 undeniably drew attention to the
crowds from its carbon fiber spoiler and hood all the way down to its 19x9
Breyton Magic Racing 3-piece wheels sitting on Nitto NT555 Rubber. The assembly
of flawlessness continuously gleamed under the bright lights as import goers
meandered from one team to another, only to reach the remarkable M3 of REVTECH
RACING and be forced to stop in their tracks.
As mentioned earlier, the M3 is presently undergoing a few changes here and
there; some for show, others for the track. Nevertheless, they’re all for the
better. Stay tuned to our calendar and find Jamar behind the wheel at the next
race and show! It’ll certainly be an exhibition you won’t want to miss! And
lastly, we all know Jamar loves us all, but he would like to give a special
shout out to one single person in particular for installing his parts and being
there from day one- Hugo Alvarez. “Thank you.”
