With the temperature gradually descending, many people are recalling that, once again, it is that time of the year. The final stages of the racing season are approaching and soon, the season will be over and winter will be here. With that said, it is becoming clear that many sponsors, promotors, and supporters are certainly doing their best to cram the last few events into the season.
On Saturday, October 4th of 2003, the 5th Annual K&N Filters NHRA Sport Compact Fall Nationals were scheduled to transpire. However, due to inclement weather conditions, Fall Nationals was rained out. As a result, the event was listed to take place the following day, Sunday, October 5th.
Typically, the location of the event was Englishtown Raceway Park in Old Bridge Township, New Jersey. The turnout was literally jam-packed and many fanatics crowded the area quite quickly. For REVTECH RACING, the event appeared to be an utter “waste of time,” as one member recalled. The team was only able to run one time trial and by the time eliminations had arrived, it was excessively past 4pm.
In attendance, on behalf of RR, were Marc Enriquez, Jonathan “JR” Duque, Bill “BJ” Renkart, and Josh Nierman. With the day already off to a bad start, it seemed unlikely for anything else to go wrong until BJ’s tires on his 1993 Toyota Supra TT were dishonorably slashed. It sadly appears that sometimes, people apparently have nothing wiser to do with their leisure time than to cause unruly and disorderly mischief upon others.
Taken as a whole, REVTECH RACING’s reaction was of large disapproval upon Fall Nationals. Certainly, the organizers should have put forth supplemental effort to improve the organization, supervision, and management to run this event more efficiently. Despite misfortune, the team is looking forward to the upcoming show – Import Circuit at the Asbury Park Convention Center on Saturday, October 25th of 2003. So be sure to look out for us throughout the remainder of the season…and don’t forget to sneak a glance at the rest of this site. See you all at Import Circuit!
